What does an Interim Innovation Lead do?
For a limited time I take over leadership of the innovation agenda until structure and owners are in place internally. That includes basing decisions on evidence, protecting the team from the logic of day-to-day business and bringing stakeholders on board.
When does a company need this?
When ideas exist but decisions do not happen, when innovation projects get lost in day-to-day business, or when the role is not yet filled internally.
What is Entrepreneurial Leadership?
Leading with an entrepreneurial attitude: making assumptions visible, allowing small experiments and basing decisions on evidence. I orient myself on Tendayi Viki. His view includes the people side of innovation, meaning trust and buy-in among stakeholders, and an entrepreneurial role at leadership level too.
How do you bring innovation into the core business?
New things need their own metrics, their own decision rounds and a link to strategy. That is ambidexterity: exploiting the core business while exploring something new. I call the three tasks ALIGN, MOBILIZE and EMBED.
